Your freezer will automatically maintain the temperature level you select. The temperature control dial has 7 settings, plus OFF. "1" is the warmest, "7" is the coldest, and turning the temperature dial to OFF shuts down the compressor. Set the dial to "4" and allow 24 hours to pass before adjusting the temperature to your needs.

The lights on the chest freezer indicate the following:

Green = Run. The green run light indicates the compressor is running. If the indicator is dark it does not mean the unit is off. The compressor only runs when the compartment temperature is too high.

Red = Interior temperature too high. If the red indicator light goes on, there may be several reasons for this: first start-up of appliance, restart after defrosting, or after filling the freezer with fresh food. In these cases it is normal that the red indicator light goes on. It goes off automatically when the interior temperature reaches approximately 5 degrees F.

Yellow = Fast freeze switch. If the yellow indicator light goes on, the compressor continues cooling until it is turned off again. If the environment temperature is +89.6 degrees F, the yellow light will turn on; it will need about three hours for the interior temperature to drop approximately -0.4 degrees F.
