Haier America Top Mount Refrigerator Recall

Haier America, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), has announced a voluntary safety recall of 137,000 Haier top freezer refrigerators. This recall involves the Haier models HA10TG31SB, HA10TG31SS, and HA10TG31SW with 10.1 cubic foot capacity manufactured from September 2014 through October 2016. They were sold in black, stainless steel, and white exterior colors and finishes. The Haier logo is affixed on the refrigerator door.

Recalled Models
The recalled refrigerators can be identified by matching the model and serial number combination listed below. The model and serial numbers can be found on a label on the back of the refrigerator on the upper, rear panel. Note, you may need to pull the refrigerator away from the wall to review this label.

An electrical component in the refrigerator can short circuit, posing a fire hazard. Haier America will provide a free repair to all consumers with affected units.
Consumers who instead wish to replace their refrigerator can receive a $150 rebate towards the purchase of a qualified new Haier brand refrigerator. See the rebate form for eligible models.
Haier America has received three reports of smoke, fire and associated property damage. No injuries have been reported.
This recall is being conducted in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, which will also monitor the effectiveness of the recall program.
