If you are going to be shutting off the refrigerator and putting it in storage, be sure to thoroughly clean the unit beforehand. This includes cleaning the faucet, beer line, and keg coupler with beer line cleaning chemicals, cleaning the drip tray, and wiping the entire unit clean and drying the interior thoroughly.

Then when it is taken out of storage, the faucet, beer line, and keg coupler should be cleaned once again before dispensing beer.

To clean:

  1. Pump water mixed with a cleaning chemical into the beer hose and let it soak for the time prescribed by the chemical manufacturer.

  2. Then, thoroughly flush the beer hose with water to remove all traces of the cleaning chemical.

  3. The last and most often overlooked step is to soak the keg coupler and faucet in water with cleaning chemical then brush them clean with a cleaning brush. Rinse them completely clean with water.
