Over time, the flat oven racks can start to stick and become difficult to slide in and out easily. This is especially true after running a self-clean cycle. Lubricating the racks will help them pull out easier.

To lubricate, put a small amount of vegetable oil on a soft cloth or paper towel and rub onto the left and right edge of the racks, making sure they are lightly coated. Be careful not to use too much.

Avoid using other cooking oils (olive oil, coconut oil, peanut oil, etc.) on any type of oven rack. These oils will cause a discoloring or a rust-like color residue on the racks and cavity sides. To clean this residue, use a soap and water or a vinegar and water solution. Rinse with clean water and dry with a soft cloth.
