Detergent Type:
Liquid
Depending on the type of liquid detergent and the detergent manufactures recommendations, liquid detergent can be used in our Portable Washers.
-
For Normal wash programs, the liquid detergent can be poured in the dispensing drawer, or in a ball or cup supplied by the detergent manufacturer with the laundry or in the drum. Caution: Some liquid detergents should not be poured directly onto the laundry as it can mark, stain or bleach the clothes. You might want to dilute the detergent by mixing a solution of 3 parts water to 1 part liquid detergent to prevent the detergent from staining the clothes.
-
For Pre-wash program, do not use liquid detergent as it will drain into drum to early and will be used up during pre-wash.
-
Always use HE (High Efficiency) detergent.
Detergent Pods
Single use detergent packages are designed to be used in full size washers. The amount of water used and load size makes using Single use detergent packages both inefficient and wasteful. The amount of detergent being used is too much for a portable washer.
Detergent Amount:
Generally take the amount of detergent recommended by the detergent manufacturer and reduce it by 75%. For example, if the detergent manufacturer recommends 1 cup then use 1/4 cup.
Fabric Softener:
Portable washers do not offer a fabric softener dispenser. To add softener, stop the washer during the second fill at the beginning of the rinse cycle. You might want to dilute the softener by mixing a solution of 3 parts water to 1 part softener to prevent the softener from staining the clothes.
Liquid softener balls are designed for full size washers. Reduce the amount of softener being used to half.
